Climate The Plateau's climate can best be described as moderate. Folks here enjoy the changing of the seasons while escaping the harsh winter temperatures of the North and the sultry humid summers of the South. Sports enthusiasts enjoy golf, fishing and other outdoor activities year round. We do get a cold spell here once in a while, but it doesn't last too long. It's not unusual to have a snowfall one day and then see golfers on the course the next afternoon. We seldom have " weeks-on-end" of cloudy, dreary, depressing winter skies like our Yankee friends do. Summers produce pleasantly warm days with wonderfully cool evenings (great sleeping weather). When the inevitable stinkin' hot spell comes to visit, it doesn't last too long. It's amazing how many retirees have relocated here from their previous retirement locations in Florida, Arizona, Texas, and the Carolinas. The Plateau's 2,000 ft. elevation provides a haven from the heat and humidity of the surrounding valley communities. Summer temperatures are often 10 degrees cooler, with lower humidity than the neighboring valley communities of Knoxville (including Telico and Rarity Bay), Cookeville, and Nashville.
